PRACTICAL
TIPS FOR REFERENCE CHECKING
One
of the simplest and least expensive
ways to screen an applicant is to
verify statements about prior work
experience, skill level and education.
The depth of the check depends on
duties the applicant would have in
your organization. To make a simple
job easier and ensure consistency,
provide a reference checklist and
apply the same procedure to every
serious job candidate. We mean
literally every applicant whether
referred by your best friend or the
board chairman. Apply the same rules
consistently across the board for your
own protection should a claim arise.
