SPEAKING OPPORTUNITIES
WITH MCN
The ability to submit presentation and speaking propsals is reserved for MCN associate and nonprofit members.
About MCN’s Workshops and Trainings: Each year, MCN offers more than 40 workshops, trainings and conferences. MCN often relies on the expertise of others to lead workshops, trainings, and conference breakout sessions. We look for experts in their related field to present on a specific topic of interest to a broad range of nonprofits.
What We Seek in Presenters: Our nonprofit members expect a high level of information and resources. Thus, we look for presenters that have an expertise in the area in which they will be presenting, experience with nonprofit organizations of all sizes, and previous training experience.
What We Look for in Proposals: MCN looks for thoughtful presentations that are geared toward an audience of nonprofit managers. Proposals should be fully developed and thought out, include information about possible handouts or activities integrated in the presentation, and a list of what participants will gain from attending the session. Proposals should be for informational presentations only. MCN will not review or accept proposals for presentations intended to promote a presenter’s services or products.
Presentation Areas of Interest: MCN will accept and review presentation proposals for any area. However, there are several specific responsibility areas that we address on an ongoing basis, including:
• Fundraising and Development
• Management and Finance
• Technology
• Board Governance
• Personnel and Human Resources
• Public Policy
• Marketing and Communications
Conferences of Interest: In addition, MCN has planned several conferences for
2007 and invites proposals for breakout session at each event.
- Technology and Communications Conference – Focusing on how nonprofits use technology to make their communications with audiences more effective and
efficient.
- MCN Annual Conference – The largest gathering of nonprofit and philanthropic leaders in the state, this conference covers a broad range of issues and will have a specific theme associated with it.
- Leadership Conference – MCN will sponsor a confererence on nonprofit leadership in Summer
2007 and is soliciting proposals for presentations focusing on building leadership in the nonprofit sector (details TBA).
Compensation: MCN is unable to compensate speakers. However, presenters are invited to include their contact information in handout materials and bring a single stack of brochures or business cards to place on a table near the registration area.
How to Submit a Proposal: Proposals are accepted at any time through on online survey. Go to
www.mncn.org/speakingproposals.htm
to link to the survey.
RFPs for specific events may be released throughout the year. Associate members will receive special invitations to submit their ideas and proposals.
