Your Turf: Lowest Turnout Districts in Minnesota
MPP
has a challenge for you! Below you will find the
50 lowest turnout precincts in Minnesota. The challenge, if
you choose to accept, is for your organization to adopt one
of these low turnout districts and make it your goal to boost
turnout in that district in 2008. How can you organization
boost turnout? MPP has the educational materials
your nonprofit needs to do low or high resource:
- Voter
Registration
- Tips, tactics, and strategies for getting your community
ready to vote by registering
- Includes information for special circumstance voters,
e.g. victims of domestic violence, people experiencing
homelessness, ex-felons, etc.
- Voter
Education
- Information on how to host a candidate forum
- Information on how to put together candidate questionairres
and voter guides
- Get-Out-the-Vote
- Low
and high resource ways to mobilize the vote near or
on Election Day
What
does it mean to adopt-a-precinct?
- Develop
a plan for engaging your community around voting and why
it matters
- Set
a goal for increased turnout - MPP suggests a goal of a
5% increase over 2004
- Utilize
the voter mobilization strategies and materials above to
engage and turnout new and infrequent voters on Election
Day!
