Why
is the Nonprofit Nonprofit Leadership Institute unique?
MCN's Nonprofit Nonprofit
Leadership Institute is unique in its design for nonprofit leaders
in Minnesota. Its utilization of talented trainers, access to accomplished
peers and comprehensive, in-depth curriculum including cutting-edge
theory, trends and information as it pertains to nonprofits today,
will spark connections, energize networks, and illuminate personal
potential. The Nonprofit Leadership Institute is comprised of two
pathways to achieving personal and organizational leadership.
What
will I learn by participating in a Nonprofit Leadership Institute?
You will learn
skills in developing your own personal leadership as well as skills
for building your organization's leadership. You will also get to
meet and network with other nonprofit peers from around the state
and be able to share and learn best practices.You can view the curriculum
that will be used in each Nonprofit Leadership Institute for the
Senior Managers and Strategic Connectors.
What
is the time commitment?
The Nonprofit Leadership
Institute consists of nine day long sessions over a period of eight
months. There will be a two and a half day kickoff retreat that
will include overnight accommodations. Depending on the monthly
topic, and depending on your leadership project, you will be required
to spend some time outside of the Institute preparing for each sesion
through readings and research.
Are
scholarships available and how do I apply for one?
Scholarships are available.
In order
to apply for a scholarship for the Nonprofit Leadership Institute,
please include a written statement with your application explaining
why you would like a scholarship, for what amount, and how attending
the Nonprofit Leadership Institute will benefit you, your organization,
the nonprofit sector and the communities you serve.
Where
will the Nonprofit Leadership Institutes be held?
All components of the Nonprofit
Leadership Institutes - including the overnight retreat and the
day long sessions- will be held at a convenient and accessible location
in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Travel stipends will be available
for participants coming from Greater Minnesota - for more information
about travel stipends, contact Bao Vang, MCN's Leadership Program

How
are applicants selected to participate in the Nonprofit Leadership
Institute?
A committee of distinguished
sector leaders will review the applications and select no more than
30 participants for the Nonprofit Leadership Institute six weeks
prior to its start.
Who
else is will participate in the Institute?
Other participants
in your Nonprofit Leadership Institute class will be current nonprofit
staff working in a nonprofit organization. They are your peers.
Will
I get a Certificate of Completion?
Yes, you will
get a Certificate of Completion at the end of the Nonprofit Leadership
Institute. You will also recieve a letter indicating that you completed
the Nonprofit Leadership Institute - the letter will include date
of completion, curriculum content and course outcomes.
What
is the online component for the Nonprofit Leadership Institute?
Participants
will be able to review resources and information, respond to ideas
and curriculum material as well as post messages and throughts of
their own learning process.
Will
Nonprofit Leadership Institutes be held in 2010 and 2011?
Nonprofit Leadership Institutes
will be held in 2010 and 2011. Dates for those Nonprofit Leadership
Institutes will be determined at a later time and will be posted
on MCN's Web site.
