PRIMARY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Put your knowledge of real estate and property taxation to work as a Real Estate and Tax Specialist I in the Property Tax Division of Taxpayer Services. This position is in the Tax Processing Telephone Unit, located at the Government Center in downtown Minneapolis.
The Property Tax Division maintains tax descriptions for all parcels of land in Hennepin County, processes special assessment levies and abatements, calculates tax rates and performs duties associated with tax forfeited land. This division also mails tax statements, collects and distributes taxes and processes property tax refunds.
EXPERIENCE
AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
One or more years of clerical experience processing and maintaining fiscal and/or legal documents relating to real estate and property taxation.
Experience maintaining and balancing statistical records, preferably including some experience in real estate and/or property tax. Knowledge of legal terminology related to real property. Knowledge of basic math to calculate interest and tax amounts. Ability to provide exceptional customer service, and to use tact and courtesy in dealing with the public. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in proofreading and verifying information on tax related documents. Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Good time management skills and attention to detail.
