The Amherst H. Wilder Foundation is a 104-year old health and human services organization serving the needs of the East Metro area’s most vulnerable residents through a wide range of programs and services.



JOB TITLE: COUNSELOR 2
LOCATION: Twin Cities Metro

SALARY: $39,598-$43,986    TYPE: Full Time / 40 hours    DEADLINE: 8/4/2010

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program: Kofi Services

Kofi Services is a school based mental health program addressing the needs of African American boys and girls within nine St. Paul Public Elementary Schools. As a Counselor 2, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Develop professional relationship and maintain a practical understanding of current community resources available to support clients. Plan and implement culturally appropriate counseling and outreach services for program participants. Complete essential paperwork, gather, record and submit accurate and timely records for participants. Prepare appropriate forms and file documents. Develop program curriculum and materials. Maintain ongoing and effective communication and documentation regarding programming and client status. Create a workplace culture that recognizes and demonstrates an on-going commitment to client privacy and security protections.



EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Master Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related Social Science field. Minimum 1 year of relevant experience also required. Ability to gather information, assess and plan for client needs. Experience working in African-American culture, knowledge of child development & severe emotional disorders of children and adolescents, knowledge of family systems theory and of behavioral interventions.
