The BlueGreen Alliance (BGA) is a strategic initiative founded in 2006 by the United Steelworkers and the Sierra Club, bringing together the labor and environmental movements in support of a clean energy economy where the creation of good, green jobs goes hand in hand with environmental progress. BGA has grown to include the nation’s two largest environmental organizations (Sierra Club and NRDC) and eight of North America’s largest trade unions (USW, SEIU, CWA, LIUNA, UWUA, AFT, ATU and SMWIA)—with a combined 8.5 million members and supporters—all joined in a historic partnership to address the challenges posed by the global economic and climate crises.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
JOB DESCRIPTION
The BlueGreen Alliance seeks a full-time Corporate Giving Manager to execute BGA’s corporate giving strategy and secure corporate support in a high-volume development department responsible for raising $7 million annually. The position reports to the Director of Development. The successful candidate will have a strong background in corporate giving (additional experience in other areas of nonprofit development preferred), and will demonstrate strong writing, research, communication and organizational skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist Executive Director, Director of Development and other senior staff in setting annual corporate fundraising goals;
• Assist Director of Development in the design of BGA’s corporate giving strategy, and manage the corporate giving program;
• Assist Executive Director, Deputy Director and Director of Development in developing a corporate fundraising plan for the annual Good Jobs, Green Jobs conference, involving BGA partners, external allies and other prospects; conduct research for possible prospects; and assist in developing outreach materials related to the conference;
• Support Deputy Director and Legislative Director in efforts to solicit partner unions’ corporate contacts;
• Engage BGA program directors in corporate fundraising, develop program-specific corporate prospect pools, and provide support for engagement/solicitation of prospects;
• Develop and maintain relationships with a large pool of likely corporate donor prospects;
• Continuously monitor and identify additional target companies and industries and develop solicitation strategies in collaboration with the Executive Director and Director of Development;
• Conduct initial research on possible companies and trade associations;
• Assist in recruitment outreach to the BGA Corporate Advisory Council under the direction of Chair of the BGA Corporate Advisory Council and Director of Development;
• Staff year-round corporate engagement initiatives (conference calls, meetings, events);
• Staff development components of BGA’s Corporate Advisory Council;
• Engage BGA’s corporate donors in identification and solicitation of other corporate prospects;
• Write, edit, package and send written solicitation and promotional materials to corporate prospects;
• Research and identify likely corporate prospects, and create and update detailed prospect profiles;
• Collect, process and maintain corporate donor and prospect information in a sophisticated fundraising database and file system;
• Prepare timely reports on all aspects of the corporate giving campaign;
• Manage corporate donor fulfillment (invoices, receipts, acknowledgments); and
• Assist the Director of Development with special projects as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of five years of fundraising experience;
• Experience with corporate giving required;
• Experience with foundation, individual and government fundraising preferred;
• Experience in organizing events preferred;
• Well-organized, self-motivated, self-starter.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Excellent research and analytical skills;
• Experience in developing outreach materials;
• Experience with database, word-processing and spreadsheet software;
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people on teams;
• Background or interest in labor, environmental movements a plus;
• Bachelor’s degree required; and
• Some travel required.
