ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
The Minnesota Zoo Foundation's primary purpose is to raise funds for the Minnesota Zoo. Founded in 1978, the Minnesota Zoo exists to connect people, animals, and the natural world. We are dedicated to inspiring guests to act on behalf of wildlife and wild lands. To accomplish this, we provide award-winning recreational, educational, and conservation programs, locally, nationally, and internationally.



JOB TITLE: SPECIAL EVENTS INTERN
LOCATION: Southeast

SALARY: Unpaid    TYPE: Intern / 30 hours    DEADLINE: 12/15/2009

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide gala event support through general clerical work, data entry, auction item cataloging, online auction support, auction item solicitations, etc. as well as working at the 2010 Beastly Ball on Saturday, April 24.

Attend Beastly Ball committee meetings as needed.

Provide possible event support for other events taking place during the months of hire.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education. High school diploma required. Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor degree with a major or related course work in business administration, marketing, or related field.

Experience. Prior experience (paid or volunteer) in event planning or office administration; experience in a non-profit, education or cultural environment a plus.

Self-motivated, organized, attention to detail, strong people skills, poised, excellent phone and communications skills, ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Computer aptitude required, with Microsoft Office experience preferred. Familiarity with Auction Tracker and Raiser’s Edge software helpful. A flexible team worker.
