PRIMARY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for providing Full-Time direct services to residents residing in the Wilder Roof Transitional Housing Program. In addition to direct services, the DV specialist is responsible for providing crisis intervention, emotional support, advocacy and education on the effects of domestic violence. The position is responsible for providing regular home visits and connecting families to culturally responsive community resources to assist them in living self sufficient violent free lives. The position will coordinate all services with the Wilder Roof program case manager to assist families in transitioning back into the community.
II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES •Coordinate family support by providing direct services in the form of in-home visits and phone contact. •Provide crisis intervention and support services as needed in the area of domestic violence/prevention. •Provide individualized safety plan for mother and her children. •Facilitate weekly support groups to Roof Project participants who are experiencing domestic violence. •Provide 911 cell phone to each family. •Assist in obtaining an order for protection when requested by a client. •Assist in obtaining a domestic violence waiver upon request. •Work with Roof Transitional Housing case managers to provide support groups for victims of domestic violence. •Work with Roof Transitional Housing case managers to coordinate services effectively. •Attend monthly case management meetings at Wilder Roof Program. •Provide domestic violence training to Roof Project staff, to increase their ability to recognize and address signs of domestic violence. •Collect and maintain accurate information on all residents, document all pertinent information. •Other duties as assigned by the Women’s Program Manager.
EXPERIENCE
AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

•Bachelor’s degree preferred, three to five years experience working with at-risk women and their children and one-year in-home visits is required. •Minimum of three years working in a diverse organization with experience in domestic violence. •Strong interpersonal and communication skills •Ability to handle client, administrative and personnel information with complete confidentiality •Ability to prioritize, handle a variety of tasks and be self-directed •Ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultural, ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds and lifestyles.
