Marketing and Design Assistant

ORGANIZATION: Paramount Arts Resource Trust - Paramount Theatre & Visual Arts Center

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
The Paramount Theatre and Visual Arts Center is a community arts facility located in Historic Downtown St. Cloud, Minnesota. The facility is owned by the City of St. Cloud and operated by the Paramount Arts Resource Trust (a 501c3 non-profit organization).



JOB TITLE: Marketing and Design Assistant
LOCATION: Central

TYPE: Part Time / 30 hours    DEADLINE: Open Until Filled

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to: Director of Performing Arts
Compensation: $8.75 per hour
Benefits: As per personnel manual

Job Type: This is a permanent, Part-Time, 12-month position at 30-32 hours per week. The following describes the general nature and level of work to be performed. It is not an exhaustive and complete list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required for the position.

Job Summary: This is an entry-level arts administration/marketing/design position. The Marketing Assistant performs project-based graphics design and implementation tasks primarily for the Performing Arts Department, with additional graphics support for the Visual Arts Department. In addition, the Marketing Assistant updates the Paramount's internet marketing and provides clerical support for the Director of Performing Arts.

(80%) Marketing Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare, submit and proofread newspaper, magazine, postcard and other printed materials
• Prepare, submit and proof radio spots
• Maintain a calendar of print deadlines and submit material in a timely manner
• Initiate and maintain positive relationships with media representatives
• Maintain and update the performing arts website, Facebook page, Constant Contact, and other electronic advertising tools
• Provide input regarding overall marketing strategies and components
• Other duties as assigned

(20%) Clerical Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Arranging meetings
• Preparing and mailing written correspondence
• Creating spreadsheets, mailings, reports and presentations
• photocopying, faxing and mailing
• creating, modifying, updating and/or distributing documents in Word, Excel, Adobe Design and Power Point and Publisher
• coordination of student interns, when available

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Previous Experience:
• A Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year College or University, or 1 to 2 years of related experience or training.
• Experience with job-related computer software
• Exposure to, knowledge of, or an appreciation for the performing arts is a plus.

• Ability to appreciate the contributions that each unique person makes to the Paramount Theatre and Visual Arts Center
• Ability to demonstrate that they understand the importance of teamwork
• Ability to work with speed and accuracy in Word, Excel, InDesign, Photoshop, and other Adobe and job-related software
• Significant internet familiarity and skills, primarily for updating Facebook, the Paramount website, and other internet-based applications
• Must have strong organizational skills and be comfortable working on a multitude of tasks at the same time
• Able to show initiative and make creative decisions
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under potentially stressful conditions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective, pleasant and respectful relationships with supervisors, colleagues, venue patrons, board members, artists, media representatives and volunteers
• provide assistance to any member of the Performing Arts team when needed
