JOB TITLE: Home Energy Conservation Tech
LOCATION: Twin Cities Metro

TYPE: Full Time    DEADLINE: Open Until Filled

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Weatherization Program Manager, this position performs field inspections, calculates energy savings, determines cost-effective and practical repairs, and writes up work orders for crews and contractors. Works to educate and empower low-income customers on utility bills; acts as a referral source agent for other customer-eligible programs; and assists with evaluation and follow-up on customer services. Must be available for some customer-required evening or weekend appointments.
• Performs assigned on-site energy audits. Inspection and analysis of building envelope, heating systems, and all other aspects of building characteristics that may be considered for home energy, with an emphasis on energy conservation. Uses wide variety of testing and diagnostic equipment for the purposes of identifying energy conservation potential and unsafe or hazardous conditions.
• Responsible for analyzing energy consumption of low-income customers and educating households on energy-use habits and potential for bill reduction. Emphasis is on methods of empowering customers to take control of household energy bills and understand how their choices affect their energy bills.
• Provide customer service, referral, service coordination, and follow-up to assist customers in participating in programs provided by CA of Mpls or other agencies.
• Responsible for adhering to Weatherization Manual program rules and guidelines. Assist with ensuring crew and sub-contractors abide by policies and procedures specified in the Weatherization manual, funding source requirements, DOE protocol and State of Minnesota contracts. Attend CA of Mpls meetings, training session and conferences as assigned.
• Responsible for assisting with the smooth and orderly administration of programs, including customer files, phones, computer use, attending training sessions, and other departmental functions.
• Assist customers participating in the ERR emergency program. Take share of weekend shifts to cover State ERR Manual Requirements.
• Meets with the Weatherization Program Manager to resolve customer complaints and problems when appropriate.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School degree or equivalent. Post secondary training in energy auditing or construction-related activities desirable. Formal Social Work or Education training is desirable. College degree desirable.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Strong experience in residential energy, education, or social work. Strong background in low-income energy conservation programs, social work, or education. Experience with residential construction, with emphasis on weatherization preferred. Currently certified as Residential Energy Auditor or ability to become certified within six months. Valid driver’s licenses and clean driving record is a must. Must have own reliable transportation. Basic PC skills required.
