ELECTION
JUDGES FOR CHARITY PROGRAM
WHAT
IT IS AND HOW IT WORKS |
- This
initiative provides the potential for citizens to contribute over
$6 million to charitable organizations.
-
The Election Judges for Charity Program provides you with the
opportunity at once to serve your favorite charity, your community,
your state, and your country. Fulfill your community’s need
for election judges while raising money for and awareness of your
favorite charitable organization.
- Election
judges are paid by local jurisdictions. Participants in the Election
Judges for Charity Program endorse their election judge paychecks
over to charitable organizations of their choice. (Note: Election
judge pay varies according to local policy.)
- You
must be eligible to vote in the county in which you want to serve
as an election judge, and you must be able to read, write, and
speak English. If you are multilingual, service as an election
judge is especially helpful.
- To
apply to become an election judge, fill out an election judge
signup form, available in the program brochure, and mail it to
your political party before May 2004. The brochure with the sign
up form is also available on the Secretary of State’s website
at www.sos.state.mn.us. You can also call your county auditor
or city or town clerk after May 2004 and ask to be placed on your
party’s list.
- Election
judge training will be conducted in each county in July, August,
or September 2004. Election judges are paid for 2-3 hours of necessary
training.
-
Election judges will work on Primary Day, September 14, 2004,
and General Election Day, November 2, 2004.
