The Minnesota Budget Project - an initiative of the Minnesota
Council of Nonprofits - is an active voice for tax fairness and
a balanced approach to the state's budget. The Minnesota Budget
Project provides independent research, analysis and advocacy on
budget and tax issues, emphasizing their impact on low- and moderate-income
Minnesotans and the organizations that serve them. Our mission is
to provide interested citizens, elected officials and community
leaders with timely and accurate information so that they can become
more active and effective participants in the public policy debate.
The Minnesota Budget Project is part of the State
Fiscal Analysis Initiative (SFAI). SFAI has members in 31 states
and is coordinated by the Center
on Budget and Policy Priorities. The Minnesota Budget Project
is also a member of the Economic
Analysis and Research Network (EARN), a network of 57 organizations
in 42 states and is coordinated by the Economic
Policy Institute.
The work of the Minnesota Budget Project is supported by the Ford Foundation,
the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Jay and Rose Phillips
Family Foundation, the McKnight Foundation, the Minneapolis Foundation,
the Northwest Area Foundation, the Otto Bremer Foundation, the STEP
Foundation and the Stoneman Family Foundation. Additional support
for the Minnesota Budget Project comes from the over 1,900 member
organizations of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits.
