SUBMITTING
AN INFORMATIONAL ARTICLE
The ability to submit informational or educational articles for publication is reserved for MCN associate and nonprofit members.
About guest articles: As another way that MCN helps educate
our members about new trends and issues, we invite our associate
members to submit informational articles, timely, relevant resources,
and practical how-to applications to possibly be published in MCN’s
quarterly newsletter, Nonprofit News, or online at www.mncn.org.
What we look for in articles: Articles submitted for publication
should be informational rather than promotional. They should be
timely or timeless, convey pertinent information about an issue
in nonprofit management, and be educational to a broad range of
nonprofit managers.
Review process: MCN staff reviews all submitted articles.
Articles are evaluated on the relevance of the topic, the amount
of informational or educational material provided and the expertise
of the author. MCN attempts to publish as many articles as possible
that fit these requirements.
Two methods of publication online and print:
Online: MCN’s Web site, www.mncn.org
is one of the most visited nonprofit management resources on the Internet. It receives over 10,000 unique visitors each month. MCN posts informational articles as Tips of the Month (with a teaser on the site’s front page), and as resources within InfoCentral – MCN’s catalog of resource materials, samples, and informational articles. If your article is selected to appear online, it will remain up for a minimum of one year.
Nonprofit News: Nonprofit News is MCN’s quarterly newsletter mailed to more than 8,500 nonprofit and community leaders in Minnesota. It is filled with informational articles. One or two guest articles usually appear in each issue, depending on space availability.
How to submit an article: Articles must be submitted electronically
by e-mailing MCN Communications and Marketing Manager Christine
Durand at cdurand@mncn.org
. To be considered for a specific issue of Nonprofit News, articles
must be received prior to the submission deadline.
The fine print: MCN reserves the right to edit or excerpt
from any article submitted. You will be notified prior to publication
if your submission will be used. MCN does not compensate guest authors
or guarantee placement.
